Butterball

Six years ago I celebrated the best Thanksgiving ever! That's the day we welcomed our little Butterball Turkey into the world. We named her Macy and every year a big parade is thrown in New York City on Thanksgiving in her honor! What a blessing Macy has been in my life. Six years has gone by as quick as a wink. Here are 6 things I love about my little turkey:
1. Art. Every day I am given many hand drawn and colored pictures. Macy loves to color and draw and we are never without beautiful artwork hanging around our house.
2. Patience. Oh how envious I am of Macy's patience. I seems like she has a keen perspective on life.
3. Competitiveness. It's almost impossible for Bryan and I to create a child that isn't at least a little competitive. Macy inherited our competitiveness, case in point: On Easter of this year our neighbor boy who is 1 year younger than Macy got a bike and never had to use training wheels (something Macy could not do yet). Not soon after the holiday Macy and I were walking home from school when our neighbor boy zoomed past us on his bike. Macy put her hands on her hips, looked up and me, and said, "Isn't he 4?" I replied yes and she then said "if a 4-year old can ride a two-wheeler then so can I." She marched into the garage, got on her bike, and took off riding.
4. Dance. I can't mention Macy without mentioning dance. Ever since she was tiny she has loved to dance. Unlike her competitiveness I don't know where she got her love and ability for dance!
5. Kindness. Kindness and Macy go hand in hand. She is truly a very kind person and people sense her kindness even as an infant people old and young have been drawn to her. I think one reason is because of her sweet heart.
6. Faith. Macy has faith in a higher being and she very much believes in prayer.
Here are some pictures of Macy from 2011:

Yup she picked it up too!

 Party time!

I love my Macy!

Tonsils and Adenoids and Tubes..Oh my!

The year 2011 has been one of many doctor visits and stops at the pharmacy. Shilo has been troubled with constant ear infections all year and at the end of the summer into fall sore throats started. We finally took her to an ENT who said her tonsils were huge and needed to come out and well as her adenoids and have tubes inserted into her ears. Two weeks later she was in surgery. Although it was minor surgery I was a nervous wreck and never want to hand my screaming child to a nurse who whisks her away again. Thanks to many prayers, faith, and wonderful doctors and nurses the surgery went well. Her recovery has been up and down but Shilo is tough and she's made it through the 2 week recovery period without any problems. As always when things like this happen I am touched by the many good deeds that were sent our way. Whether it was a delicious meal made by our neighbor, many packages and presents from wonderful family, to the many texts we received from friends and family curious about her condition we have felt loved. I've written it many times on this blog and I will probably write it many more times, we are truly blessed to have wonderful people in our lives.

Shi Shi

Yes it happened again we had another birthday in our family. My little Shi Shi turned 3. No, I can't believe it either. I wish I had a magic wand so I could freeze time.  In honor of my girl's third birthday here is a list of 3 wonderful things about her, countdown style.
#3 Cleanliness. Shilo loves to clean. Clorox wipes make her happy and she loves to fold laundry. Need I say more?

#2 Spice. Shi has some spice to her. She's has a little stubbornness in her which sometimes can be daunting but I'm also grateful for it. This kid was born with an opinion and she is not afraid to express it. I hope she always keeps her sense of self.

#1 Nurturer. This may seem opposite than number two but while she can be a firecracker she is also very nurturing. She loves to play with her baby dolls and she is a good little mama. Her dolls are never thrown around they're always put away in their beds covered with blankets. If she needs to do something that requires her to use two hands then she makes sure someone holds her baby. She has a sweet heart. I love when she wakes up in the morning and comes directly to me only wanting to cuddle. She's good to her big sister and while they might not admit it, they're best friends.

So Shi is three. I can't freeze time, I can't go back in time, all I can do is enjoy time.

 Birthday morning.

 Seatbelted in with her baby.

All Shilo asked for for her birthday was a trampoline. Since it's cold outside we thought this would be perfect for her. I make her jump on it every night before bed so she'll be tired!

This is a tiny snake Shilo found in our yard. All of the boys in our neighborhood were afraid to pick it up so Shilo just reached down and grabbed it. Her nickname is "Bug" because she loves bugs maybe now we'll have to call her "Snake whisperer."
 Asleep in her tutu.

I love my Shi!

Halloween

For the first time in almost 9 years of marriage Bry and I decided to dress up for Halloween. Shilo had a desire to be the "Cat in the Hat" and you can't have the "Cat" without "Thing 1 and Thing 2". I tried to convince Macy to be a fish in a fish bowl to complete our Dr. Seuss theme but she was set on being a cowgirl so we decided she was a cowgirl named Sally.

Yes, I made Shilo's costume. You gotta love  home-made costumes!
We had a Halloween party with my fam.

Family Pictures

New family pictures!

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so other people won't feel insecure around you. We are born to manifest God's glory within us. It's not just in some of us: it's in everyone."
