Gray Jogging Suit

When I was in middle school my mom went through a phase know as her "jogging suit phase." She had a few different pairs but her favorite was her gray pair. As a 13 year-old I wasn't the biggest fan of the gray jogging suit yet in her defense she had 4 kids and worked part-time so she was busy and didn't always have time to get spruced up. One day my mom had to make a delivery to my school, middle school. She planned to run in and out while all of the students were in class but unfortunately her plan was spoiled when she mistimed things and made her appearance while the students were changing classes and the halls were crowded. I didn't know of this endeavor until a friend came up to me and told me she had seen my mom. Thinking she was confused I refuted her claim. Her rebuttal was a dagger as she declared,
"yeah I'm sure it was your mom she had dark hair and was wearing a gray jogging suit......."
"What?" I felt my cheeks get red. My heart sank at "gray jogging suit."
Yes people my mom had worn her gray jogging suit to the middle school.


Fast forward 15 years and I am now a mother. A few months ago as I was dropping Macy off at preschool she gave me a kiss and then looked me up and down from head to toe (I could tell she wasn't impressed) and then asked,
"Mom, are you going to wear these clothes when you pick me up?"
Yes, I was indeed wearing a gray jogging suit! This is what I call a full-circle moment.
I am becoming my mom and I couldn't be any prouder. She is a great woman who is strong and beautiful and incredible. So today I say "Happy Mother's Day" to my mom. I love you and of course I'm no longer embarrassed when you wear your gray jogging suit!
